The farmstead was inextricably linked to Kessel Castle until the end of the 19th century. The Counts of Kessel resided here. Between the castle and the Gravenhof, a large open area was created, the origin of the village of Kessel.
The farmstead forms the northern boundary of the market square. The farm is of the Maasdal type: on the left is the house, in the middle is the enclosed courtyard with entrance gate, and on the right is the barn.
