Walking route Kessel
Officially this route starts at junction 70 in Veers. But you can also choose to start the route at the Markt in Kessel (near de Keverberg Castle). If you choose to start at the market square, you can walk down the steps towards the Maas boulevard. Walk along the Maas until you reach the ferry. At the ferry you walk up the mountain and turn left at the crossing towards Veers.
Nature and culture
From junction 70 on the Veers square, walk north to junction 48. You soon see the Antonius windmill and the route continues towards the hamlets of Broek and Spurkt. Via rural and wooded roads, you arrive at the Liberation Monument. This monument was erected to honour, among others, four soldiers of the Scottish regiment who fell during the liberation of Kessel. Finally, you walk through the rural area around Kessel, via the Baarloseweg back into the village to end up on the Maasboulevard.
